Who We Are
Lake Sherwood Acres is a "well-kept secret" of 312 homes located between S. Sherwood Forest and Coursey Boulevards. There are 81 homes built along the shores of a 40 acre lake, as well as 231 homes that are located off the lake. The neighborhood was developed by Victor Coursey in 1974 when this area was considered far out from down town. Part of the draw for this neighborhood is the 25 meter swimming pool and large clubhouse, as well as the many, well maintained green common areas and private lake.
Sherwood Lake Association Purpose
The Sherwood Lake Association Articles of Incorporation state that the association "is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Louisiana, for the purpose of, among other things, owning, preserving, maintaining and regulation for the use of its members the lake shown on the official plat of Lake Sherwood Acres Subdivision..."
Where are we located?
We are located east of S. Sherwood Forest Boulevard and north of Coursey Boulevard. Click Here for a map of the area and of the actual neighborhood.
Please be aware that the Lake Sherwood Acres Restrictions and Covenants and Baton Rouge City Ordinance No. 10669 passed on August 14, 1996, requires all sellers to furnish the buyers of their property a copy of all deed and building restrictions affecting that property. Additionally, all dues must be paid in full prior to the sale of any property and a written “Paid in Full” Invoice must be presented at the closing. Contact the treasurer well in advance of the closing for a copy of the Invoice.
SIDEWALK REPAIRS
In late 2011 your Board began a project to repair the broken, sunken, and raised sidewalks in Lake Sherwood Acres. The effort has been a huge success with over 150 3-foot sections repaired by our residents and a good number repaired by the City/Parish. Unfortunately, before we could get all of the repairs made, the contractor that did the work got a lot of large out-of-town jobs and he stopped working in LSA before finishing all the repairs that were lined up. We have been unsuccessful in getting him to return. Similarly, the City/Parish made a number of repairs but have not finished their portion of the work.
We have recently recontacted the City/Parish about completing the work they started and we are hopeful that they will do so.
So, the question is, if we can find another contractor to come in and complete the work that our residents are responsible for would enough residents be willing to hire him to make it worth his while?
If you would be interested in getting your sidewalks repaired please let Dick Hevey know at: rhevey@bellsouth.net.
We will compile a list and then try to find a contractor to do the work.
Thank you.

Helping Our Lake
It's that time of year when we all start mowing our lawns whether we contract it or do it ourselves. The smell of fresh cut grass might be the only pleasant thing about mowing the lawn when it's hot and all you can think of is having a cool one when you're done.
One thing you might not have thought of is where all those grass clippings that end up in the street go. Unfortunately, at the next storm they get flushed into the storm drains and most of our storm drains lead to the lake. So the clippings end up in the lake and eventually decompose but in that process they consume oxygen in the water. That can be very detrimental to our fish population and if it occurs when we are fighting a bad outbreak of water lettuce or algae the clippings can contribute to a fish kill. They also build up the silt on the bottom which reduces the water depth.
So, you can help by not blowing grass clippings or leaves into the street either with your mower or leaf blower. Also, for lake lot owners, please do not blow grass or clippings into the lake when mowing or edging along your bulkhead.
Oh, and please talk to your lawn maintenance contractor about this information as well. Your help on this will be appreciated.
New Mailboxes
We have compiled the list of orders for new mailboxes and sent it on to Hart Mailboxes. Hart is in the process of contacting each resident that ordered a box to verify the order and style and arrange to install it. They should complete all of the installations over the next several weeks.
If you did not get in on the initial order you can still participate in this special deal. All you need to do is contact Hart Mailboxes directly at 756-8277 or go by their store at 13030 Coursey Blvd. Also, if you decide to place an order, please notify Dick Hevey at his email address so we can keep up with the total number of boxes ordered.
Thanks everyone for the great response to this effort to upgrade our mailboxes and improve Lake Sherwood Acres.
